Sandra "Sandy" Lee Millard,
A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life on May 12, 2025, at the age of 75 in Woodstock, Ontario. Born on August 15, 1949, in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Sandy spent her early years surrounded by extended family in Coalburn, NS, before moving with her brother and parents to Ontario when she was just nine. This transition marked the beginning of an incredible life filled with love, creativity, and cherished memories.
Sandy, like her mother and grandmother, was a talented seamstress, finding joy in crafting intricate quilt designs that were as warm and vibrant as her spirit. Her talents extended to her work, where, for decades, she created beautiful window treatments that brightened many homes in the community.
Above all her achievements, it was her family that defined and enriched Sandy's life. She was the proud mother of three children: Diane (Chris) Dowding, Shannon Emmerton (Marcel Marin), and Rob Emmerton. To them, she was not just a mother but a guiding light, a source of unconditional love and support. Sandy adored and was incredibly proud of her grandchildren—Reilly, Tyler, and Connor. Each moment spent with them was a treasure, and she revelled in being an active part of their lives. Sandy is also survived by her brother, Stan (Judy) Millard.
Sandy loved the simple things: She absolutely loved to laugh and kept a positive attitude through many health challenges. Her time with friends and family was deeply treasured, and she was fortunate to have a best friend, Kathy Goulet, with whom she shared a profound connection for over fifty-two years—truly sisters from other misters. She appreciated a quiet moment with the cats or dogs. She loved to bake and share her homemade treats with loved ones. She was happiest when music filled her home.
In every interaction, whether through a kind word, a shared laugh, or the warmth of her embrace, Sandy left an indelible mark on those around her.
A Celebration of Sandy's life will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, ON (519-539-0004). This gathering will be an opportunity for family and friends to honour and remember the remarkable woman she was, a true embodiment of love and kindness. As per Sandy's wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest with her parents, Henry and Gladys Millard, at the Presbyterian Cemetery, Woodstock, ON, at a later date.
