Sherwood Norman Martin passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on September 15, 2023 at Parkwood Veterans' Hospital in London, Ontario.

A loving companion of 18 years, Sherwood is deeply missed by his partner, Dorothy Sharples. As a dedicated father, Sherwood is lovingly remembered by his son Fred (wife, Karen) and daughter Mary (partner, Charlie) and grandchildren Benjamin Martin, Quinn Vaney and Isla Vaney as well as his youngest brother, John (wife, Irene). Sherwood relished being an uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews in both the Martin and Andrews families. Sherwood was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Julia, wife Dorothy (nee Andrews) and brothers Charlie, Bill, Clifford (Marie) and Jimmy (Shirley).

Sherwood was passionate about life and adventure. He was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario on February 23, 1929. As a young man, he served in the Korean War as a noncommissioned officer. Sherwood's working life was spent largely in the housing industry as a mortgage appraiser, building inspector, bylaw enforcement officer and in product assurance - both in the private and government sectors. Sherwood was a music enthusiast, loved live theatre and exploring communities and landmarks. He was always curious, passionate to learn everything he could in the world around him. In his later years Sherwood ignited his passion for travel, exploring Australia multiple times. He took great joy in the accomplishments and adventures of his children and grandchildren, appreciating their travel and career adventures as well.

The family extends deep gratitude to the staff at Parkview Veterans' Hospital for the thoughtful and compassionate care during his time with them.

In keeping with Sherwood's wishes, there will be no funeral service or gathering but instead a private internment attended by his children.
