Obituary

Stewart Edward Wilson (“Beef” to friends and some family), age 82, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at Woodstock Hospital. He was born on August 24, 1943, in Great Harwood, Lancashire, England, a small village near Blackburn. Stewart immigrated to Canada with his parents, John and Honorah Wilson, and his siblings, Anne and John, in November 1953, settling in Woodstock, Ontario.

Stewart was a quiet and kind man devoted to his family and friends. In his 20s, Beef volunteered as a rodeo clown throughout southwestern Ontario and remained an avid horseman well into his 40s. He was also an accomplished bowler who spent many happy hours at the lanes with friends. It was through bowling that he met his partner of more than 40 years, Patsy Morrison, who predeceased him in October 2024.

Beef worked as a tube mill operator at Standard Tube in Woodstock until retiring in 2003. In retirement, Stewart and Patsy enjoyed travelling, often planning their trips around their shared love of golf — especially during the Canadian golf off-season.

Stewart (Uncle Beef) will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his brother John Wilson and sister-in-law Jo-Anne Wilson; his nephew Michael Wilson; his nieces Sarah Fernandes (Paul) and Patricia Wilson; and his great-nieces Ariana and Avery Fernandes.

Cremation has taken place, and in keeping with Stewart’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Woodstock Hospital for the exceptional care they provided to their Uncle Beef over the past few months.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated.
