Susan Lynn Ford (nee Schlieman), affectionately known as Sue, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on March 27, 2024, in Woodstock, at the age of 70. Sue's life was marked by her loving nature, thoughtful gestures, and creative spirit.
Sue was the beloved wife of Rick, with whom she recently celebrated 50 years of marriage—a testament to their enduring love and partnership. She was a devoted mother to Ryan (Angela) and Tara (Richard), and a cherished Grandma to Cordelia and Taylor, who will miss her warmth and guidance. Sue was also a dear sister to Penny (Terry), Mike (Angela), and Michele (Uwe), and a treasured aunt to several nieces and nephews. Her lifelong friendships with Judy and Steve Batten, “Fudge” (Dan) and Vel Kaufman, as well as the fond memories shared with the Ford and Watt families, speak volumes of the bonds she nurtured throughout her life.
Sue's career spanned many years at Gencor, where she was not only a dedicated employee but also a friend to many.
Her interests were a reflection of her creative soul. Sue had a passion for knitting and crochet, with everyone in her circle having been graced at some point with one of her signature rainbow afghans. An avid baker, she was known for her Christmas cookies, which were always too numerous to eat (but somehow always disappeared at gatherings). Sue also found joy in crafts and pottery, leaving behind beautiful pieces that will be cherished by those who knew her.
Friends will be received on Tuesday evening, April 2 from 6-8pm at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home. A memorial service in celebration of Sue's life will take place on Wednesday morning, April 3, at 11am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Nancy Vandenberghe officiating. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada – arrangements entrusted to the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock.
