Tibor Szmeretzky passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at Woodstock General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his wife and five children.Born in Budapest, Hungary, Tibor met the love of his life in 1957, and together they built a beautiful story that spanned 68 years. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was a man of deep warmth and quiet strength who always put his family above all else. 

Tibor is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda Szmeretzky; his children Steve (Barbara), Evike (predeceased by her husband François Goudreault in 2010), Julie (Dale Mason), Mike, and Rick (Kelly); and his cherished grandchildren Teri, Sarah, Crystal, David, Nicola, Joshua, Sara, Isabelle, and Sam. He was also a loving and proud great-grandfather to Lola, Mya, Clara, Piper, Sophia, and Liam. He was predeceased by his grandson Joseph Szmeretzky. 

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Woodstock General Hospital for the exceptional kindness and care shown to Tibor and his family during his final days. 

A private memorial service for family will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026.
