Velma Elaine Kaufman, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love, passed away on February 13, 2026 in Woodstock Ontario. Born on January 31, 1954, in Brantford, Ontario, Vel graced this world for 72 years, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew her.
Vel was adored by her loved ones, renowned for her beautiful spirit and the warmth she exuded. Her family resonated with her affection, considering her not merely a relative but an integral part of their souls. Vel is survived by her devoted spouse, Dan, whose love for her was both a foundation and a comfort throughout their journey together.
Her children, Tara (Paul) Doolittle, Jeremy Kaufman, and Dana (Dave Leake) Kaufman, carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and the exuberance for life that she instilled in them. Vel was not just a mother; she was a guiding light and an unwavering support to her children, who were blessed with her warmth and kindness. Her four grandchildren—Emma, Austin, Jake, Ty, and her beloved fur grandbaby Gary—were the jewels of her life, each bringing her immeasurable joy and laughter, always lighting up her days with their cheerful presence. Mana/Nanny was their biggest fan, never missing a game, recital, or special moment, always there with unwavering pride and enthusiasm.
Vel also leaves behind her treasured siblings: Norma (Norman) Mason, Joyce (Bob) Gray, and Greg (Sherry) Huggins, alongside a number of nieces and nephews who admired her deeply. She shared a profound bond with her surviving mother, Elizabeth "Betty," who had the privilege of sharing her daughter's vibrant spirit throughout the years. Her family tree is further complimented by the loving memory of her late siblings Diane (Surviving spouse Brian) Lawlor and Sharon (Surviving spouse Mic) Leuszler, who remain in the hearts of those they left behind.
As we gather to honour Vel's remarkable life, funeral services will take place at Brock & Visser Funeral Home. Visitation will commence on February 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a heartfelt memorial service on February 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
In her departure, Vel leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but her spirit will continue to live on in the cherished memories she created with her family and friends. In her honor, we celebrate not just her extraordinary life but also the permanent mark she has left on our hearts, reminding us to love freely and without reservation, just as she did throughout her beautiful selfless existence.
