Walter Donald McConkey

Walter Donald McConkey or most knew him as Don a man of adventure and dedication, passed away at Woodstock General Hospital, June 20, 2025. Born in Toronto, Ontario on August 9, 1936. Pre-deceased by Thomas (grandfather), Lizzie (grandmother) in Belfast Ireland. Walter McConkey (father) Doris (mother) and Lorraine (sister).

Walter lived a life that embodied his love of freedom and service.

Completing private school he became a pilot for several years, Walter then embarked on a journey to explore the world, immersing himself in diverse cultures and experiences. This chapter of his life broadened his horizons and deepened his appreciation for the beauty of our planet.

Upon his return, Walter joined Bell Canada, where he contributed his skills and expertise for 36 1/2 years where he maintained a perfect driving record.

Walter is remembered for his infectious enthusiasm, and his love for those around him. Walter was the family dictionary, knew everything and always had the answers. He leaves behind a legacy of adventure, friendship, and cherished memories.

Walter will be deeply missed by his wife Laurie McConkey, his 4 children Brian (Betty), Cheryl, James, and Amanda (Tyler).

Walter will be greatly remembered by his 9 grandchildren Kurtis, Jaden, Harley, Emma, Clarke, Riley, Michael, Kevin and Dakota along with all his extended family and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brock and Visser Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will take place at a later time.
