Wanda Alise Hawes (nee Berzins), a beacon of warmth and love, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at Woodstock Hospital. Born on November 27, 1942, in Latvia, Wanda's journey led her to a life rich with family, laughter, and enduring friendships.
She married her soulmate, Kenneth Hawes, on February 18, 1961, and together they built a life filled with joy and purpose. Their union was blessed with two sons, Robby, who sadly predeceased her (2024), and Bradley, who found his partner in Linda Marie Mundy. A sister, a friend, and a confidante, Wanda was the cherished sister of Karl Berzins and sister-in-law to Sadie Berzins. Her presence will be profoundly missed by her niece and nephew, Dolly and Rick Brotzel, who held a special place in her heart. Wanda was predeceased by her loving parents, Charles and Alise Berzins, and her brother John Berzins, whose memories she held close. Wanda's life was a beautiful tapestry of the roles she cherished—devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, and doting aunt. Her laughter was infectious, her advice was sought after, and her ability to listen made her a cornerstone in the lives of those she loved. Wanda's legacy is one of unwavering love and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and grace. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., (519-539-0004) on Wednesday September 18th, 2024, from 10 to 11 am where the funeral service will take place in the chapel at 11:00 am. The burial will take place at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society.
