James "Jim" Duffin Obituary

Peacefully at Parkwood Institute, London, on Saturday, June 19, 2021, in his 87th year, Jim left us to be with his Heavenly Father.  Jim was born on June 25, 1934, in London, Ontario, to Olive and Harry Duffin.  In 1957, he married the love of his life Sheila (Ramsay) and in their 64 years together, they raised a family of 4 children.  Cherished and devoted father of Kathie O’Gorman (Dan), Doug Duffin (Rose), Barb Duffin (Ron Grech) and Darcy Duffin (Jennifer).  Loving grandfather of Kelsea, Ryan, Jessica, Devan, Lyndsay, Nicole, Jade, Darby, Simon and Patrick.  He was a much-loved brother of Helen White and Agnes Gallagher.

Jim loved being with people.  He loved visiting and mentoring, family reunions, celebrations and travelling. As well as being a successful farmer, Jim was always involved in his community, serving on numerous boards. Jim served as a West Nissouri Councillor and Reeve, on the Thorndale Agricultural Society, with the Hall-Dennis Royal Commission on Education, as the First Chairman and sixteen-year Trustee of Middlesex Board of Education, as an Egg Farmers of Ontario Committee Member, and as the Oxford Mutual Insurance Director and President. Jim was an Honourary Companion of the University of Guelph, as well as an active member of Crumlin United Church.

Jim’s family wishes to extend their thanks and deepest appreciation to the staff at Parkwood Hospital for the outstanding care he received. They especially wish to thank Cindy Draper, whose bond with him made his last few months special.
