Jo Ann Parker Obituary

On November 10, 2023 I held my Mom’s hand for the last time.  Mom, Jo Ann Parker (Waud), passed away peacefully in Woodstock Hospital due to complications from surgery. Born on December 17, 1940, Mom was a beacon of kindness, gentleness and love, traits she passed on to her children Wendy Cook (Chuck) and Mike Parker.  Mom was predeceased by my Dad, Reginald Parker, and their infant son, Mitchell, and also her brothers Jack (Vera) Waud and Bill (Sylvia) Waud.  She is survived by her sister, my adored Aunt Lynn Thorne (the late Frank Thorne), and her brother Brian Partlo.
Mom’s life was not an easy one, but she faced her challenges with courage and dignity.  She was a woman of deep faith and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by Mike and I, her sister Lynn, and her brother Brian, and a very large circle of friends and family including the many nieces and nephews who were all very dear to her.  Mom showed such strength in the face of her challenges in life but she enjoyed many happy times filled with family and friends.  Her love and kindness will continue to inspire and guide those she left behind.  Rest in peace, my sweet Mom. Cremation has taken place. There will be a small family graveside service at a later date.
