Johanna (Baak) Sadler

SADLER (nee BAAK), Johanna (Annie) Gardina

13 December 1940 – 28 April 2023

At Sakura House, Woodstock, on Friday 28 April 2023, Annie Sadler of Woodstock at the age of 82 years.  Predeceased by her loving husband Manley Sadler.  Dear mother of Andrew (Gillian) Sadler of Thunder Bay, Maria (Rob) Chesney of Innerkip, and step-mother of Paul (Kelly) Sadler of RCAF bases across Canada.  Beloved grandmother of Katelynn (Matt), Matthew (Marie), Alex (Nathan), Luke (Amy), Grant, Ella, Jackson and Cooper, and great-grandmother of Kelson and Keityn.  Also survived by her sisters Aartje (Frank) De Vries, and Hennie (Bill) van der Vlist.  Sister-in-law to Martyn Sadler, Margaret Sadler (Marcus Busch) and Marilyn (Gary) Irish.  Loved by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her parents Gerrit and Johanna Baak, and her brothers, George and Ted.

Annie was born in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, and her family moved to Canada after WWII and settled in Southwestern Ontario.  She attended Guelph University and later became a Registered Dietitian working at hospitals in London, Ontario.  Her love of healthy food meant she was an incredible cook who enjoyed sharing this gift with her family.  She was an avid gardener and skilled in a variety of crafts including rug hooking, sewing, quilting and bunka.  She was a dedicated mother who took great pride in her children.  She loved being a grandma and would rarely miss a hockey game, or an opportunity to watch videos of her young grandsons ski racing.

Donations to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada, or to Sakura House in Woodstock.

Friends may call at Brock and Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock) on Monday 1 May from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm.  Funeral service at 2 pm on Tuesday 2 May, St David’s United Church (190 Springbank Ave, Woodstock).  Cremation to follow.
