Maureen (Walsh) Weiler

WEILER, C. Maureen (nee Walsh) - June 7, 1951 – Set. 8, 2022 - Peacefully, after a long and courageously hard-fought illness. She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul, and their three children Lee (Ashley Goff), Kate (Kyle Gaudry) and Kara (Adam Clark), as well as her three amazing grandchildren Pearl, Arthur, and Vivienne. She is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Pauline Walsh as well as her brother and best friend, Bryan.

Maureen was born in Nova Scotia. Her father was an RCMP corporal which saw her family move throughout the province during her childhood. In 1966, her father retired and the family relocated to Woodstock, Ontario. In 1969, she met Paul and on October 10, 1970 they married, spending nearly 52 wonderful years together.

Maureen was a registered nurse who practiced for over 31 proud years at Woodstock General Hospital. In her career she worked across many units including CCU, Surgery, and Medicine. She inspired so many in her role as a nurse, whether as a mentor to young nurses or a compassionate caregiver to her patients. It was her greatest honour to work alongside so many friends and family until her retirement in 2019.

She will be remembered for her quiet strength, genuine compassion, sense of humour and her love of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Our deepest gratitude to her care teams at Woodstock Hospital (2400 unit) and London Health Sciences Centre, especially the warm and gentle care of Dr. Kylea Potvin. There are not enough words to share our thanks to the truly wonderful team at Sakura House who made her last days peaceful.

Friends and family are invited to gather at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Cremation has taken place.
