Maxwell "Keith" Hutcheson Obituary

Maxwell “Keith” Hutcheson

On July 18, 2022, the day before their 70th wedding anniversary, Keith Hutcheson, with his wife Agnes (German) and his daughters Helen Hutcheson (Don Miller) and June Ferguson (Ian Gibb) at his side, passed away peacefully.

Much loved Grandfather of Paul Miller, Scott Miller (Lindsay Whitesell), Alan Miller (Jessica Carey), Danielle Ferguson (Ryan Moir), and Michael Ferguson (Christine Bilsky). Keith was a very proud Great Grandfather to Arielle Miller and Alex Moir.  He held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews.  Keith was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Ethel Hutcheson, his brother Ron Hutcheson and his wife Audrey, his sister Margaret Green, and her husband Bob.

A lifelong farmer, Keith grew up on his family’s dairy farm near Putnam. In 1958, he purchased a farm near Embro and embarked on a lifelong career, with Agnes, as a poultry farmer for 64 years, right up until his death.  Throughout his career, he valued all the people he met and worked with and was greatly respected by those in the industry.

Keith graduated from the University of Guelph in 1950 and was deeply honoured to be inducted into the Order of the Ontario Agricultural College at the University of Guelph in May of this year.

Keith was charming and intelligent.  He will be deeply missed by his family and all of those who he met throughout his life.

Special thanks to the staff of Woodstock General Hospital for their kindness and care for Keith in his final weeks.

In memory of Keith, donations can be made to The University of Guelph (M. K. Hutcheson OAC Alumni Centre), Embro Knox United Church, Woodstock Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held at Brock & Visser Funeral Home (177 Dundas St West Thamesford, Ontario N0M 2M0 (519-285-2427) on Friday, July 22nd from 6-8 pm.  The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 23rd at 10:30 am.   Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.brockandvisser.com
