Patricia Ann (Hanlon) McGillis

McGillis, Patricia Ann (née Hanlon) – Passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Peter McGillis (2005). Loving mother of Tamara (David) Sargent of Woodstock, Kelli (David) Lenarduzzi of Ancaster, and Krista (James) O’Reilly of Fonthill. Cherished grandmother of Ryan, Evan, Andrew, Emily Rose, and Daniel, and great-grandmother of Angelina. Dear sister of Marie Hanlon of London. Predeceased by her parents Patrick (1959) and Mabel (1992) and her brother Francis (2017).

Patricia was born on April 17, 1938. She, along with her brother Francis and sister Marie, was raised by Patrick and Mabel on a dairy farm in Oxford County. She became an elementary school teacher and upon their marriage in 1963, Patricia and Peter moved to Beachville. Soon they settled in their family home, nestled by Vansittart Park in Woodstock, where they raised three daughters. Patricia held a deep Catholic faith and was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League.

Pat loved spending special moments with family and friends and she carried a quiet and steadfast determination throughout her life. She was a role model for keeping those you love close to your heart and she always supported us with a listening ear. You could always depend on her for warm conversation and to gather everyone together around a thoughtfully set dinner table to enjoy a meal, a laugh or two, and each other’s company.

Friends and family will be welcomed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1420 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, on Monday, January 31, 2022, from 2 to 3 p.m. with the Funeral Mass to follow at 3:00 p.m. presided by Father Raj. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Ingersoll will take place in the spring. Our gratitude to her care team at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton for their compassion and Carrington Place, Ancaster for their kind support.
