Robert Clarence Hughes

HUGHES, Robert Clarence -  passed away with dignity at Sakura House on Monday, February 3rd, 2020 in his 84th year. He was born in Ingersoll, Ontario on October 1st, 1936 and raised on the family farm near Holbrook with parents Thirza & Clarence Hughes along with brother Ken (deceased) (Noreen) Painter, Jim (Pat) Hughes. He was married to his wife Susanne (Timms) for 58 years. He was immensely proud of his family. He was a loving father to sons Ben (Karen) & Michael (Teresa). Grandpa to Brittany (Mark) Wijnker, Michael, Taylor & Danielle Hughes as well as Great Grandpa to Caleb, Matyse, Seth, Paisley & Amelia Wijnker. Bob was an avid fan of sports, coaching and playing hockey and baseball. He worked at Standard Tube (Woodstock), Harter Furniture (Guelph), Quality Inn (Woodstock). He was also a Big Brother to a couple of young boys. He served on church boards and was treasurer at First Baptist Church for 10 years. Bob enjoyed the game Aggravation along with Sudoko and Jigsaw puzzles which helped to pass the time when he was in declining health. He will be remembered as a gentle, quiet and serving individual.  Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bob’s life will take place on Sunday, March 1st, 2020 at First Baptist Church, 603 Adelaide Steet, Woodstock, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
