de Beer, Katrine “Tina” – Passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Michael de Beer (2005). Survived by her stepson Steven W. de Beer of Australia and by her sister Lena (late Tony) Toneff of B.C. Dear aunt of Janine (Bruce) Toneff, Chris (Sarah) Toneff all of B.C., and Peter, Jochen and Detlef Bruckner all of Germany. Predeceased by a sister and a brother. Tina was born in Northern Germany, the youngest of Four. Her only brother died during WW II. She experienced the many trials and tribulations of the war and therefore left Germany. First to Sweden, then to England where she studied to become a Registered Nurse. Her first job was in Hanover, Germany then with like-minded friends went to Johannesburg, South Africa to work in a private hospital specializing in cardiac operations. She loved to travel and explore the countries she worked and lived in. When on a cruise she met her future husband, and they married a year later in 1964. After some time, they immigrated from Nairobi, Kenya to Canada in 1969. Michael worked at Huron Park Secondary School and Tina part time at the ORC. With her love of travel, Tina enjoyed keeping fit, listening to classical music and opera, reading was also a passion, tennis, badminton, walking, aquafit, and volunteered at the Woodstock General Hospital for 20 years. She made many friends within the Woodstock community and the many active organizations. A memorial service to celebrate Tina’s life will be held at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Saturday May 28, 2022, at 5:30 pm with a time of visitation one hour prior. Cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial contributions to D.W.D. (Dying with Dignity) would be appreciated.
